ii) Role of the Training and Development Officer in the facilitation of the preparation of robing of new members

The Portfolio has recognized the need for the development of appropriate practices and procedures to ensure consistency and equitable processes in the Guild. The development of consistent and uniform practices ensures that the identity of the Guild is protected as throughout the Province the Guild will be able to have one identity. The following practices shall be developed at a Provincial level to ensure consistency of approach and uniformity:
4.1 Guild Services (Umanyano);
4.2 Training of new members;
4.3 Bereavements: Ukuxhonywa kwebhatyi, “lowering the board/banner at the gravesite”;
4.4 Meeting procedures
The Guild has to develop a policy of succession planning that ensures that the skills and expertise that are engendered through the participation of members in leadership positions is not lost due to the such members leaving the leadership roles they hold in the Guild.
The succession planning policy, as part of the broader Capacity Building Programme, shall be tabled in the Provincial Council Meeting to be held in September 2012.
